Three top musicians from three different musical traditions! Gathered in the project L’Antidote, which uses music as a universal language to erase cultural boundaries, this international trio consists of Iranian-French master of the zarb and Persian percussion Bijan Chemirani, Albanian-Italian cellist Redi Hasa, and Lebanese-French pianist and composer Rami Khalifé.

L’Antidote was created from a desire to produce a kind of musical antidote in a time marked by wars, divisions, and uncertainty. Although they come from different musical worlds, their collaboration feels completely natural. Chemirani’s Persian rhythms, Hasa’s lyrical cello sound, and Khalifé’s pianistic visions are shaped by the traditions of the Mediterranean, the Middle East, the Balkans, jazz, and contemporary classical music.
All three have impressive careers. Bijan Chemirani has collaborated with musicians such as Sting and Juan Carmona, Redi Hasa is known for his work with Ludovico Einaudi and Robert Plant, and Rami Khalifé, the son of the legendary oud master Marcel Khalifé, has gained worldwide recognition by blending classical music, electronics, and improvisation.

Their debut album was met with critical acclaim. The French newspaper Le Monde described it as “music of astonishing refinement,” while Radio France noted that it is “a beautiful album with an almost therapeutic effect.” L’Antidote has also strongly captivated audiences, as shown by sold-out concerts across Europe and memorable performances at festivals such as Jazzahead! and Babel Music.

The music of L’Antidote ingeniously blends Persian tradition, Mediterranean melody, Balkan sensibility, and contemporary European expression, transforming them into a unique concert experience. Their concert at Lisinski Hall will be a rare opportunity for the local audience to witness live one of the most intriguing phenomena of the contemporary world music and crossover scene.

The Wednesdays at Lisinski & Izvorišta program is co-funded by the City of Zagreb.
