British indie greats Tindersticks return to Zagreb!
Following their last sold-out concert and an evening the media described as “a hypnotic night of emotion and elegance,” Tindersticks will return to the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall. This time, they will present their new, 15th studio album, set for release in March 2027.
For more than three decades, Tindersticks have been creating music that simultaneously breaks and heals the heart, marked by Stuart Staples’ distinctive baritone, a cinematic atmosphere, and timeless arrangements that turn their concerts into unforgettable experiences—something anyone who attended their previous Lisinski show in March 2025 can certainly confirm.
Tindersticks were formed in Nottingham in 1991, though the members had already been playing together in the notable band Asphalt Ribbons, formed four years earlier in the same city. Legend has it that the band got its name when frontman Stuart Staples, while walking along a beach in Greece, came across a box of German matches labeled “Tindersticks.” Their first demo recordings date back to 1992, when they released their debut single “Patchwork” on their own label, Tippy Toe Records. They then released two self-titled albums—often referred to as the “first” and “second”—both of which were highly acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. Their live performances were enhanced by a string section and even a full orchestra, as captured on the album “Bloomsbury Theatre 12.3.95.”
The band is also known for its collaboration with French director Claire Denis, for whose seven films they composed music, while their song “Tiny Tears” featured in the first season of the cult series The Sopranos. The Zagreb audience will be among the first to hear songs from the new album performed live, alongside the classics that have made Tindersticks one of the most distinctive bands on the European indie scene.
