In 2021, the artistic organization Musica d.o.o. launched the first International Competition of Young Opera Singers 'Stojan Stojanov Gančev' in Zagreb. The singing competition 'Stojan Stojanov Gančev' was named after a singer and pedagogue who, through decades of his work and artistic influence, left an indelible mark on generations of singers and audiences who experienced his performances on the stages of Croatia and abroad.

With his professional and thorough approach, he raised a number of opera singers and pedagogues who perform and are active around the World. During his rich career, he was many times elected to be a jury member at numerous International competitions of young solo singers. Just, strict, but above all, well-intentioned, he would gladly approach every singer after their performance, and talk to them in order to share his opinion and advice.

The organizers of this competition would like to nurture the qualities that Professor Stojanov had and pass them on to the young generations. In order to hear as many talented young musicians as possible, through propositions, we have enabled a wide variety of generations of singers to perform. 

The main idea of this cultural event is to discover, support and develop through art, the potential of young musicians and direct it to the recognition and thus additionally encourage preservation of the spiritual World heritage. Participation in this competition will help to inspire and draw attention to the musical art of many cultures.

So far, 152 candidates from 25 countries have joined the competition: China, Thailand, Russia, Georgia, Germany, Austria, England, USA, Portugal, Italy, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, Cyprus...
