The Zagreb Youth Chamber Orchestra (ZOKOR) is a Croatian musical ensemble consisting of young musicians. It was founded in 1957 by students, mainly string players, later students of the Zagreb Music Academy. Zlatko Stahuljak was their first leader. ZOKOR was founded to continue the tradition of string chamber music, led by the exceptional achievements of Vaclav Huml, the founder of the Zagreb Violin School. Rudolf Matz was their teacher, conductor, and artistic director. Since 1994, they have been led by violinist and conductor Zlatan Srzić, and as an ensemble they operate within the Association of Parents of Croatian Music and Dance Students "Leopold Mozart", founded by prof. Jelica Kuzmin. Some of the prominent conductors who led ZOKOR include maestro Pavle Dešpalj, Jasenka Ostojić, Tomislav Fačini and violinist Tonko Ninić. Since 2019, the leadership of the ensemble has been taken over by harpsichordist and conductor Franjo Bilić, with whom they made their debut at a concert in the newly opened Blagoje Bersa Hall at the Academy of Music in Zagreb. A more recent project was realized with vocal ensembles from the area of Sisak and Petrinja, performing Stabat Mater of G. Pergoles in Zagreb, Sisak and Zaprešić. ZOKOR often collaborates with emancipated young musicians as soloists and gathers music school students and students of the Music Academy in Zagreb as members.
