A music-and-theatre program for the whole family
In memory of Academician Luko Paljetak (1943–2024)

In honor of the great Dubrovnik poet Luko Paljetak, and on the occasion of the first anniversary of his passing, we present the premiere of a music-and-theatre program for children, young people, and the whole family — Mice and Cats Upside Down, inspired by his emblematic classic. Composer Dubravko Detoni, Paljetak’s longtime friend and collaborator, has created a musical adaptation of this timeless collection of verses which — through the interplay of narrator and instrumentalists — will bring to life a world of wondrous characters, cheerful humor, and witty wisdom. The audience can look forward to the adventures and mishaps of a cat that ate and drank too much, a piano with a broken string, and a mouse that was constantly being chased.

Performers: - Sanja Grgina, narrator - Katarina Kutnar, violin (the mouse) - Bruno Philipp, clarinet (the cat) - Krešimir Starčević, piano (the one with the broken string)

The work was commissioned by the Osor Musical Evenings and, under the auspices of the Croatian Association of Music Organizers (HUGO), will tour across Croatia in cooperation with numerous partner institutions throughout the country.
