Programme to be announced

Leonidas Kavakos, the Greek virtuoso whom critics rightly compare to Paganini, has for decades been regarded as one of the most prominent violinists of today. His unsurpassed technique and refined musicality make him an artist whose interpretations continue to captivate audiences and critics around the world. He appears regularly at the most prestigious concert halls and music festivals, collaborates with the world's greatest orchestras and conductors, and in recent years, he has also achieved notable success as a conductor, leading ensembles such as the New York Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of La Scala in Milan.

Although a world-renowned soloist, Kavakos also fosters a deep commitment to chamber music. It is in the intimacy of chamber music-making that he finds the most sincere artistic dialogue – both with his partners on stage and with the audience. He plays the 1734 Willemotte Stradivarius violin, an instrument of exceptional expressiveness and tonal richness.

Leonidas Kavakos has shared more than twenty years of outstanding musical collaboration with Enrico Pace, one of today’s most acclaimed Italian pianists. Their shared interpretative vision and incredible artistic synergy have earned them ovations on concert stages worldwide. Their acclaimed album of Beethoven’s violin sonatas, released by Decca Classics in 2013, was noted for its expressive refinement and interpretative power.
Kavakos and Pace are no strangers to the Zagreb audience; their last appearance at Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in 2014 was remembered for their passionate performance of sonatas for violin and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Ottorino Respighi.
This concert presents a unique opportunity for the Zagreb audience to once again witness the exceptional artistic quality of the musicians whose joint performances leave no one indifferent.
