Angelic Voices!

If we have ever tried to imagine musica celestis, the music of the celestial spheres and the singing of a choir of angels, then their earthly appearance is best reflected in the beautiful voices of the world-famous Vienna Boys’ Choir! This famous choir is one of the oldest and best known music ensembles in the world that has been continuously active for more than 500 years! The astonishing and unique tradition of this boy choir is imbued and firmly intertwined with the lives of many famous musicians, such as Joseph Haydn or Franz Schubert, who also sang in the ensemble. But the number of musicians who were in direct contact with the choir or who composed for it is huge! From Mozart and his "rival" Salieri, the great Gluck and the famous Bruckner, all the way to Croatian musical greats Lovro von Matačić and Max Emanuel Cenčić!  From 1498 to 1918, the boys' choir within the Vienna Court Chapel sang exclusively at private concerts and functions of the Imperial Court. But after 1918, when it became a private institution, its royal reputation spread throughout the world. The first sound recording of the Vienna Boys’ Choir was made on a wax roller back in 1907. Since then, the ensemble has made an incredible number of records: 43 shellac records, 55 singles, 128 LPs and 151 CDs, for all the world’s major record companies! They have also participated in 26 films and 17 television documentaries, which clearly shows the international reputation and popularity of the ensemble! In 2015, they signed a contract with the Deutsche Grammophon label and released the albums Strauss For Ever and Merry Christmas from Vienna.  The constant accolades and undiminished interest of audiences do not abate even today. And two years after their last appearance in the Saturday at Lisinski cycle, which was met with great enthusiasm, we proudly present the world's best children's voices, united in cheering for the greatest art - music! The ambassadors of Austria's capital, and of its musical multiculturalism at the same time, who have music coming from their hearts and who sing as one with visible pleasure, according to Freie Presse, will take us on a journey around the world by performing famous choral miniatures in several world languages.
