The concert of the Chamber Orchestra of the Zagreb Academy of Music and the Albe Vidaković Church Music Institute Choir, with talented young singers under conductor and composer Zoran Novačić, will be a unique experience and one of the highlights of the festival. They will give the first public performance of Novačić's Magnificat, a vivacious, modern piece of great artistic energy in one of Vienna’s most beautiful sacral buildings - grand St. Peter’s Church. This will also be the first time after more than two hundred years that Tantum ergo will be performed again, an inspiring sacral piece by Antun Sorkočević, an erudite scholar, nobleman, politician and composer, who lived in Dubrovnik at the turn of the 19th century. Due to its uniqueness and special place in the Croatian music history, the contemporary premiere of that piece, which reflects the elegant spirit of Dubrovnik's beautiful churches and the delicate music of mature classicism, will undoubtedly attract the attention of the cultural public in Vienna and Austria, but also in Croatia.

Mozart’s ingenious Vesperae solennes de Confessore (K. 339) will be the second highlight of the concert. It is a piece in the very interesting form of a Catholic liturgy (evening prayer) consisting of six movements, five psalms and a beautiful final Magnificat, of festive character, with bright sounds of trumpets and timpani beats! An evening of discovering new, long-disappeared and then retrieved sacral music to remember!

Programme:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Laudate Dominum from Vesperae solenne de confessore for Soloists, Chorus and Orchestra, K. 339
Antun Sorkočević: Tantum ergo in F major for Baritone Solo, Strings and Two Horns (Premiere)
Zoran Novačić: Magnificat for Soprano, Alto, Chorus and Orchestra (2016, Premiere)
