Edo Maajka
HRT Jazz Orchestra
Miron Hauser, conductor

Edo Maajka is a rapper, lyricist, producer, creative force, sharp critic, and commentator on social and political events — a musician with a career spanning more than two decades, seven studio albums, over 150 songs, and probably every major music award in the region. As early as 2002, with his debut album "Slušaj mater", he conquered the Croatian music scene (and beyond) and established himself as one of its most important figures. His next album, "No Sikiriki", which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, also gained cult status and led to a sold-out show at the Dom Sportova arena, a moment that permanently changed the Croatian hip-hop scene.

Energetic, direct, uncompromising, witty, entertaining, insightful, and at times controversial, Edo Maajka has crafted an intriguing body of work with powerful production that still provokes, inspires reflection, and provides musical enjoyment.

Hip-hop is no stranger to the HRT Jazz Orchestra, and in October 2024, a long-awaited collaboration with Edo Maajka finally came to fruition. Following a powerful season opener by the HRT Jazz Orchestra at the Gorgona Hall of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb and studio recordings at HRT, the collaboration continues. This concert offers an overview of Edo’s rich creative output—from his early albums that defined Croatian hip-hop, to his most recent one, "Moćno" (2022), which won a Porin Award for Best Hip-Hop Album.

As this collaboration represents a natural progression in the search for new musical challenges on both sides, Edo Maajka’s work was arranged by top arrangers Luka Žužić, Bruno Matić, and the artistic director of the HRT Jazz Orchestra, Miron Hauser, who also conducts the concert.
