Two world-renowned ensembles of two peoples on stage!
A combined attraction offered by the Hungarian National Folk Ensemble and the LADO National Folk Dance Ensemble of Croatia in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb. A set of folk dances as developed by the Hungarians and the Croats.
The Hungarian National Folk Ensemble, about to mark its 70th anniversary, will perform before a Croatian audience for the first time on 29 May 2018. The Ensemble’s orchestra and dancers will present the finest folk dances from many places: from Kalocsa to Szatmár and Kalotaszeg, all with authentic musical accompaniment. This spectacular series of Hungarian dances will be intertwined with those performed by the LADO, with exquisite choreographies from Baranja and Međimurje, along with dances from the island of Cres. The dance and song elements are patent evidence that the Hungarian and Croatian peoples are connected through our folk culture, in addition to our myriad other values.
The two ensembles started collaborating in 2017 in the Hungarian Institute in Zagreb, when their members remembered Antal Kricskovics, Croatian dance artist from Hungary, who had been a choreographer in the Hungarian National Folk Ensemble and a member of the LADO. His art was connecting the cultures of both peoples.
This event is made possible with the support from the MOL Group and INA.
