OXYGÈNE – JEAN-MICHELE JARRE’S MUSIC
Jean-Michel Jarre: Glory
The Sudar Percussion Ensemble, “the wackiest group of musicians in the area” (Irena Paulus), has a specific and unique approach to the works of classical and popular music. The combination of innovation and humor resulted in excellent projects and achievements in Croatia and abroad (Watchers of the Skies, Vivaldis, Eat Suite, Oxygène). Their first album Eat Suite, mastered in the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, earned them two prestigious awards from the Independent Music Awards in the United States. The ensemble has appeared in numerous national and international festivals, and made interesting videos with pianist Matej Meštrović, singer Božo Vrećo, violinist Stefan Milenković and the Zagreb Soloists. They have also collaborated with the greatest names of the percussion scene (Ink Experiment duo – Ivana Bilić and Nikola Krbanjević, Emanuel Sejourne, Pius Cheng, Dane Richeson, Ney Rosauro, Svet Stojanov, Slovenian Percussion duo, Rachel Xi Zang, Nancy Zeltsman, Paolo Cimmino, Tatjana Koleva, Maraca 2, Eric Sammut, Bogdan Bacanu, Stefan Milenković, Ivana Bilić and the Tchiki Duo), thus significantly contributing to the promotion of Croatian percussion music
In September 2016, the Sudar Percussion made another step forward by shooting a video for Jean-Michela Jarre’s song Oxygène IV. The video was premiered on September 16, 2016, thus commemorating the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. It was shot in the beautiful Medvedgrad fortress in Zagreb and directed by Sandra Mihaljević. Oxygene IV announces their new album that will be produced by Branimir Mihaljević, like the previous one, and will contain the most popular works of this electronic music pioneer in the Sudar Percussion’s energetic style, and is sure to be equally exciting as Jean-Michel Jarre’s album four decades ago. The recording of Oxygene IV has been excellently received, not only by audiences, but also by Jean-Michel Jarre himself and his discographer Francis Dreyfus Music, BMG France, with which the ensemble collaborates. The Oxygène project culminated in a sold-out concert at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in February 2018. Two years after starting the project, the ensemble continues its promotion around Croatia.
